We found Nirmada outside the downtown Berkeley BART station, selling her handmade soaps in a variety of shapes, colors, and kinds.

You may find her on Sundays at the Berkeley Flea Market.

Fired glass art by David Mintim of the Firehouse Art Collective in Berkeley, California.

Prices begin at $150 and vary depending on the amount of embodied energy in each piece.  Some pieces have been fired several times.

Mintim is inspired by Basquiat’s process—his constructions incorporate broken glass and other fragmentary evidence into the formal structure.

The final photo is an oil painting, also of Mintim’s.  This series represents the efforts of more than a decade of his practice.
